The eminent scientist of the National University of San Luis (UNSL) and Conicet, Esteban Jobbágy, will be incorporated into the prestigious National Academy of Sciences (ANC) in an act that will take place next Friday at 18:00 in the province of Córdoba, where he will hold the conference entitled “Argentine agriculture in the face of environmental challenges and some reflections on the science-politics-production link”.
Jobbágy is an Agricultural Engineer from the University of Buenos Aires, a Doctor of Biology from Duke University (USA), a senior researcher at the Environmental Studies Group (GEA) of UNSL and the Conicet of San Luis, where they are currently studying more than 30 people.
The National Academy of Sciences, which is geared towards the development and dissemination of exact and natural sciences, the study and exploration of the country’s territory, and advising governments and scientific institutions, seeks to recognize Jobbágy for its development drive of his specialty in Argentina.
Likewise, the incorporation is due to his scientific and personal background, which includes more than 180 exceptional investigations on ecology, soil, hydrology and land use.
Among his merits, Jobbágy has received a Researcher of the Nation award, the Konex Honor Diploma, a Guggenheim Fellowship and has been named a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. He is also general editor of Ecología Austral magazine.
