This Thursday the members of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Museum of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) met to vote on the new dean of the academic unit who will replace Ricardo Etcheverry.
In this sense, the new maximum authority of the Faculty located at 60 and 122 will be the geologist and Doctor of Natural Sciences Eduardo Kruse, born in Esperanza on February 17, 1953. He was elected by twelve of the sixteen councilors since the representatives of the Natural Front, current leadership of the Student Center, voted against.
The new dean specializes in hydrogeology and currently holds the position of full professor of the aforementioned academic unit.
Kruse is also Senior Researcher at CONICET and Executive Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Applied Research on Water and the Environment (UNLP – CONICET – CIC – National University of the Northwest of the Province of Buenos Aires) and Director of the Center for Comprehensive Studies of exogenous dynamics (UNLP).
The scientific and technological production of the new dean of Natural Sciences concerns the sustainable use of aquifers, the determination, modeling and prevention of their contamination, the variation of the water table as the surface precipitation varies, the hydrological characterization of the relationships between water brackish and fresh water in different environments and the interrelation between coastal processes and surface and groundwater, particularly in the outer coastal region of the Río de la Plata estuary.
This Friday, however, the dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences of the UNLP will also be elected, where Ricardo Andreau will be elected again.
